All the Apple fanatics out there are in for a treat. Apple announced that it will release a new book that will contain 450 photos of its products. These will also include products that have not been released yet. The book is titled ‘Designed by Apple in California’.
The book will be on sale on Apple.com and in selected Apple retail stores. This hardcover edition is available in two sizes, which includes the $199 10.20” x 12.75” version and the $299 for the 13” x 16.25” version.
The photos in the book are new images that have been taken by Andrew Zuckerman and will show off 20 years of Apple design. In a press release, chief designer Jony Ive describes the book as a collection of all products that the team has come up with over the years and this could serve as a great resource for students in every design discipline.
In the foreword to the book, Ive writes:
“While this is a design book, it is not about the design team, the creative process, or product development. It is an objective representation of our work that, ironically, describes who we are. It describes how we work, our values, our preoccupations, and our goals. We have always hoped to be defined by what we do rather than by what we say.
We strive, with varying degrees of success, to define objects that appear effortless. Objects that appear so simple, coherent, and inevitable that there could be no rational alternative.”
Watch the video given below where Ive talks about the book in an interview with Brutus, which is a Japanese men magazine. The passion with which he explains the book is remarkable and shows how hard his team has worked over the years in each and every product that came about.
