Forbes is out with this year’s list of the highest-paid models in the world. These models are more than just pretty faces; many have taken on entrepreneurial roles in the past. We’ve compiled a list of the 6 highest-paid models from the Forbes list for 2016-2017.
6. Doutzen Kroes – $5 Million
A distant second place is occupied by Doutzen Kroes. The dutch model raked in $5 million last year. Kroes’s contract with Victoria’s Secret has significantly pushed up her earnings. Fortunately, her L’Oréal cosmetic contract is also gaining popularity. She has been the face of a Calvin Klein fragrance, and she has her own line of cashmere sweaters, pushing her earnings further up.
5. Kate Moss – $5 Million
Moss is a veteran supermodel who is still on the list of highest paid models. The Brit earned $5 million last year, with a major contribution from contracts with Kerastase haircare products and St. Tropez self-tanners. She is also the face of David Yuman, a luxury jeweler, and produces her own fashion line in collaboration with British retailer Topshop.
4. Gigi Hadid – $9 Million
Newcomer Gigi Hadid has turned digital fame into dollars, inking deals with top-notch retailers like Maybelline and Tommy Hilfiger. The 21-year-old scored advertisements for Evian and BMW, plus the likes of Versace’s Dylan Blue fragrance and Topshop, one look at her says it all why every other company wants her in their ads.
3. Karlie Kloss – $10 Million
Along with her numerous high-fashion and ready-to-wear campaigns, Kloss is the face of two fragrances: Carolina Herrera’s Good Girl and Chanel’s Coco Noir. Her looks and strong growth may easily make her the highest paid model within this year.
2. Adriana Lima – $10.5 Million
Cashing in the same amount as Kroes, Adriana Lima reserves the third spot on our list by earning $10.5 million. The supermodel is credited with being the longest running model for Victoria’s Secret (from 2000). She signed a contract with Maybelline, returning to the cosmetic company after a gap of 11 years. She has also contracted with Veet in Turkey and an endorsement deal with Amazonia water.
1. Gisele Bündchen – $30.5 Million
She’s a showstopper in every sense, and has been outpacing her rivals in terms of earnings for a while. This Brazilian bombshell earned $30.5 million last year (before taxes and fees). She is the highest paid model of 2016-2017, and she has achieved this title ten years in a row. Bündchen has signed lucrative contracts with H&M, Carolina Herrera, and Chanel. She is also the face of Pantene hair products and Oral-B in Brazil. Her jelly sandal designs yield her a cut of sales from Grendene, the Brazilian shoemaker. The model even managed to beat her husband, Tom Brady, in terms of earnings.
