How many gamers out there love Starbucks? How many Pokemon Go players love Starbucks? How about if the two join hands for a partnership? Well, that is exactly what is happening, Niantic plans to team up with Starbucks and will launch a massive Pokemon Go update.
In this update, the coffeehouse franchise will become a sponsored location inside the game and will also introduce a new Pokemon-themed Frappuccino. From a leaked internal memo, Starbucks employees reveal that this partnership will kick-off on December 8 and this will also include a new Pokemon as well.
The major details of the partnership remain hazy but it promises that most of the Starbucks cafes will turn into PokeStops or Gyms. This will allow trainers to get the opportunity to unlock and purchase the special Pokemon Go Frappuccino. However, the biggest question mark that remains on this revelation is about the new Pokemon addition. There seems to be no mention about any new Pokemon in the memo but many Redditors are speculating that there might be a new Pokemon that may only spawn at Starbucks.
This is not the first time that Niantic is in talks to partner with a major food chain or coffee chain as earlier in July, it was in talks with McDonald’s about turning its restaurants into PokeLocations and also offered an exclusive in-app feature for its burger-loving customers. However, no further update about the talks surfaced.
The memo also mentions that the partnership is expected to launch on December 8 and it will last till the supplies last. So this means that whatever the two companies are planning to release, there won’t be much of it, so be prepared to run to Starbucks store on Thursday.
